I admit that I don't follow the series. I think that this is from Gundam W(ing).

I am have a hypothesis as to why this Gundam is in the position that its in. Assume that its in space, the Gundam unit just fired off a round from its huge weapon. Thus propelling the unit in a backwards motion.

I'm also going out on a limb on this one but... I think that this might be a very important moment in the series.
